  • After Queen Victoria lost the Hanoverian Claim in 1857, she was forced to hand over a set of Diamond Bow Brooches that had belonged to her grandmother Queen Charlotte. Wanting to have her own set, she commissioned the crown jewellers, Garrard to produce three diamond brooches of graduating size, containing a total of 506 diamonds.
